Nehemi Joseph is not only a friend of mine,her intelligence is inspiring to me.There was no way of I could go on this journey of looking at what inspires others without asking her. At your blog In Propria Persona ,Nehemi has a take on everything,and I asked her to give me a list of 5 things that inspire her.
) Rides on the NYC Subway…..with all the hustle and bustle that is NYC, the subway train provides a microcosm of the rich culture that NY has. You can literally be sitting across ppl from different all 7 continents in one train car.
2)NYC Street Fashion…It is cliche to that that fashion is a passion of most young women but being a NYC resident, you cant help but indulge. I like to think that the sidewalk can be your own personal runway.
3) The inspiration of others….Recently I have found myself more and more interested in famous poignant quotes and am compelled to memorize them as self mantras. There is always a thought that I feel moved by so I keep some paper/ pot-its close by so that they won’t escape me.
4) Prayer (mediation): Being alone, provides me an opportunity for self reflection, evaluation and transformation
5) Good music: I’ll listen to anything and everything that can reflect the mood that I’m in: enything from Etta Jones to Ryan Leslie, from John Mayer to John Legend, Music is my muse!
